Snowy Nose Cold Feet

On Monday, the temperature was in the fifties and last Friday's snowfall was completely melted. The grass and even some flowers were starting to grow like it was spring 2006. Then yesterday morning the snow began to fall once again as the temperature fell into the frigid category once again. For Lily, the snow was a welcome event because she really loves to drag her nose through snow and make tracks. So far the temperature isn't too cold for her feet and because of that she stays outside quite a while until she realizes it's a little too cold and inside is much warmer. Sally definitely doesn't like the snow and cold feet. Sally usually wants to go outside all the time but when the backdoor opens up she is surprised by the cold air and snow everytime. Maybe she'll soon realize it's winter outside but right now she seems to forget everytime. As soon as she feels the cold air she lifts up here front foot and shakes it like she just stepped in snow but she hasn't because she's still inside.

Oh Deer

Coming home last night about 10 pm or so when I turned into the driveway the headlights caught a deer on the front lawn maybe 20 feet from the front window. It stood there staring at us and then ran off to the west and couldn't see were it went. Lily got excited when she saw it and started barking. When we got out of the car she of couse, started the sniffing beagle routine but I mentioned "after bye bye cookie" and she headed for the garage door.

Suprise sighting

Lily and I were out walking on the Coon Rapids marsh trail when I heard the caw cawing of a bunch of crows overhead and when I looked up I saw about 8 or 10 crows chasing a beautiful owl. This is my first owl sighting ever and was saddened to see the plight of this owl. I hope he got away.

Catch-up Time

It was a hot, dry summer. Very uncomfortable most of the time. Lily got a couple of cool down baths when the heat got too much for her and she"d be panting and looking miserable. Our walks were done mostly in the evenings when the sun was down or else short walks in shady trails. In August I developed plantar faciatitis and coulen't go on walks for a couple of months so I went on bike rides to get exercise. I tried to get lily to go along but she resisted by putting on her brakes and causing us both to be in danger. Tried 2 times and the 3rd time when she realized what was in store when she saw the bike she layed down on her side on the edge of the driveway and wouldn't budge. So that was the end of that. Whenever she's see me and the bike she's go the other way. Now my foot ib better so we are back to short walks and she's happy.

Impatient Lily

Lily loves to go out and about in the van or car. However, she gets very impatient after spending too much time without human contact while we're driving around. She loves to knock around the cup holder in the center of the van because she knows it gets our attention. One time she managed to rip a hole in a styrofoam cup and the drink went all over the place.
