Brrr it's cold outside

Today is the second day of below zero temperatures around the clock and windchills in the minus 30 degree range. Weather unfit for man or beast; Janet and Lily included. When Lily had to do her duty outside she didn"t spare any time. She grabbed her rabbit to take outside like she frequently does and did her job and rushed back to the door. She forgot her rabbit so had to go back for it. A short time later I was making something in the kitchen and Lily was not there as she usually is when I'm cooking and she can smell food. Jim asked "where Lily?' and found her on the chair all curled up on my heating pad. She looked so warm and cozy- hard life huh! Earlier had had the heating pad on for a sore back after shoveling.

Snowy Romp

Lily came with me to the Champlin health club and waited patiently in the car for me to finish my Yoga class, etc. Afterward I took her for a very long walk as I promised along the parkway. It had snoed about 4 inches of fluffy snow during the night. Lily had a great time zig-zagging back and forth across the sidewalk and in the deep snow on the side. She had her snout into the snow up to the top of her head and when she lifted her head the snow would fly. It was great and I had as much fun watching her as she obviously was. She covered 10 times the distance I did with her running back and forth as she did, Of course she did her usual beagle sniffing exploring the tall grassy and wooded areas along the way. Sometimes when the snow gets icy it gets between her toes and she reaches a point when she stops and won't take another step, but today she didn't have this problem. What a fun time we had.

Bald Eagle

Went for a walk down the river park trail just after a light dusting of snow. It was a beautiful, warm day; just right for a walk. Didn't see another person until just before the trail divides to go down to the river bank when we met a woman walking toward us. We greeted each other and she remarked how she had just scared off a Bald Eagle unknowingly. She said she saw it fly off from where it had been eating a fish. She went down to where the fish was and there was fresh blood there also. Lily and I were headed down that path anyway and we went and checked it out. No eag;e to be seen but there out about 10 feet on the ice was the fish and red blood. Looked around hoping to see the bird but no luck. Have never seen a Bald Eagle around here but now have to keep an "eagle-eye" out for one. Have seen many other kinds of eagles, hawks, pleiated woodpeckers etc though.
